Construction Career Days

Construction Career Days is an industry sponsored event in the Spokane area for high school students to introduce them to the various career opportunities available in the construction industry. Students will have the opportunity to try hands-on projects, operate heavy equipment and machinery, and meet with industry representatives from the trades and higher education. If you would like to participate in this event please contact Sarah Cottam.

Hardhats, Hammers and Hotdogs

The purpose of this career day is to engage students and educate them about the career opportunities within skilled trade industries. Students get the opportunity to talk with local business owners to learn about the many different careers our community has to offer in the north Idaho area. Pizza, Pop and Power Tools

Pizza, Pop and Power Tools (PPPT) introduces eighth-grade girls to the extensive opportunities available to women in the construction industry. This interactive experience has proven to be a fun learning experience in a safe atmosphere. Winner of the 2007 Governor’s Best Practices Award, this event introduces girls to the high skill and high wage employment in the industry, working side by side with construction professionals.

Block Kids

A nationwide block competition called BLOCK KIDS is organized annually by the Spokane Chapter #143 of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC) and is in collaboration with Associated General Contractors, Associated Builders and Contractors, and the Home Builders Association to spark the interest of elementary age boys and girls in some aspect of the construction industry as a future career. Workforce development Presentations

HELP ABC DEVELOP THE CONSTRUCTION WORKFORCE
WE NEED YOUR HELP!

The Education and Training Committee and the IPC-ABC Apprenticeship and Training Trust are working on developing the Construction Workforce.  We have prepared a presentation with information on the construction industry to give to local area High School students.

We need your help to make sure this is a success!

We are looking for construction workers from different trades that are in their early 20's and that have a construction success story to share with these teens.

If you are interested in helping get the word out about the benefits of construction please consider volunteering an hour of your time each quarter to share your story with these students.

Please contact the ABC Office at (509) 534-0826 to sign up or for more information.
