The Occupational Safety and Health Administration today issued a final rule to increase protections for construction workers in confined spaces. People working in confined spaces (such as manholes, crawl spaces, and tanks) face life-threatening hazards including toxic substances, electrocutions, explosions and asphyxiation.
Last year, two workers were asphyxiated while repairing leaks in a manhole, the second when he went down to save the first – which is not uncommon in cases of asphyxiation in confined spaces.

As you know, after ten years with our Chapter, Kate has resigned effective June 2, in order to become President of the Keystone Chapter of ABC.
Since Kate’s announcement of this change on April 1, we have been working diligently to find Kate’s successor. We anticipate this task will be completed in the next 60 days or so, but until that it is complete, the ABC Board of Directors has determined the best course of action is to appoint an Interim President to serve on a temporary basis until a permanent President-CEO can be brought on board.
