First in Proactive Dental Care.
Willamette Dental Group was originally established by Dr. Eugene Skourtes and Dr. Gerald Cogan in 1970 in Portland, Oregon. Early on, the partners began to foster a new approach to dental care that focused on preventive care and long-term oral health, instead of the traditional fee-for-service model. From this approach, the company became the Pacific Northwest's first provider of coordinated dental care. Today, they have become the largest multi-specialty group dental practice in the Pacific Northwest, with more than 50 office locations in Oregon, Idaho, and Washington.
Proactive dental care builds on two fundamental beliefs; that healthy teeth should last a lifetime and that proper care doesn't always mean invasive treatment. It's about practicing dentistry responsibly: with honesty, integrity and a dentist-patient partnership focused on promoting long-term health.
That's what sets them apart. They use the latest scientific evidence with clinical experience to develop an individualized, health-based treatment plan specifically for you. By providing you with the treatment that directly leads to long-term health, they will help you maintain or regain a healthy mouth for a lifetime of smiles.
Their mission is to deliver proactive patient care through a partnership with their patients to stop the disease-repair cycle by means of evidence-based methods of prevention and treatment.
Embrace change, encourage invention and continually remain at the forefront of advances in oral health for the good of their patients, colleagues and company.
Exemplify and promote whole-person wellness through education and support of programs that keep their patients and employees healthy.
Demonstrate caring and sensitivity for the diverse backgrounds of their patients and colleagues and generosity in their communities.
Adhere to high ethical and professional standards, demonstrating commitment to our responsibilities with trust, honesty and respect for all.
Their dentists aren’t paid by the number of fillings and crowns they perform.
Instead, they offer a unique compensation program incentivizing providers to provide the right care at the right time for each individual patient. This allows their dentists to truly deliver proactive dental care and not depend on drilling for dough.
Standards for Quality of Care
Willamette Dental Group maintains a nine-person Clinical Support Department with a full-time dentist director. The department has primary responsibility for developing and monitoring the Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance (QI) Program. The QI program includes a number of comprehensive and overlapping measures to assure initial and continuing competency of all Willamette Dental Group providers (dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants).
Although they’ve done some growing, their roots are still firmly planted with their original philosophy. The future looks bright for Willemette Dental Group, and for your smile.
